Technicon Design India has a new and exciting opportunity for an Automotive Studio Engineer to be based onsite at our clients in Chennai, India. The start date is as soon as possible for a period of six months with possible extension.
Responsibilities:
Strong Surface modelling skills in surface modelling CATIA/SolidWorks to translate the creative design to feasible output
Strong expertise in surface to engineering conversion for plastics and metals
Take ownership and lead projects from concept to launch working with a cross functional product/Engineering/Vendor teams
Design/Technical data/knowledge transfer from Central Design team to Central R&D, Collaborators, External companies and Sourcing/vendors
Initiate and direct the development of models and prototypes to test and qualify key product characteristics, manufacturability, and aesthetics
Define aspects of form, ergonomics, mechanical parameters, fit, function and meet defined expectations for product features, cost, manufacturability and launch
Well aware of the NPD process in automobile industry
Part level and vehicle level packaging with DFA and DFMEA knowledge
Ability to ‘Sketch Model’ early design concepts in 3D using Catia surface software accurately representing design intent assembly and integration
Expertise in BIW (Sheet metal), Automotive Plastic part design, development & integration
Design, manufacture and integration knowledge of components
Preparation of plans and designs using CAD technology.
Estimating budget, feasibility and deadlines for each project.
Technical documentation/ reports for management reviews
Strong model making skills, for RPT and 3dprinting/ Mold other technologies
Create, develop, maintain, and validate high quality surface data. (Component, assembly, and total vehicle).
Ensure relative criteria issues are resolved in a timely manner and updated within the issue management system.
Support the Design Studio with concept projects and general studies
