Technicon Design Sweden has a new and exciting opportunity for a Automotive Lighting Designer, to join our client’s team in Gothenburg, Sweden. This position is based on site. The contract start date is as soon as possible.

Description of the assignment:

We are seeking a visionary Lighting Designer to join our dynamic team. This role is at the intersection of art, technology, and automotive design, focusing on innovating how light shapes the interaction between humans and vehicles.
The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of lighting design principles and the ability to apply them creatively and interactively to enhance the automotive experience. While previous experience in the mobility industry is not mandatory, a passion for leveraging lighting to redefine user interaction within the automotive context is essential.
You will work within the Technology & Innovation department, a cross-functional team where inter- disciplinary focus, curiosity and drive are highly valued.

Qualifications and skills required for the role:
  • Innovative Lighting Design: Develop and implement cutting-edge lighting solutions that enhance aesthetic appeal, user interaction, and safety within automotive environments.
  • Interactive Experience Creation: Design interactive lighting systems that respond to user inputs and environmental conditions, providing intuitive and engaging user experiences.
  • Collaborative Concept Development: Work closely with design, engineering, and product teams to integrate lighting concepts into vehicle designs, ensuring a seamless blend of functionality and style.
  • Research and Trend Analysis: Stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in lighting design and interactive experiences, applying insights to drive innovation within our projects.
  • Prototyping and Testing: Build and refine prototypes to test and demonstrate the functionality and impact of lighting designs, using feedback to iterate and improve.
  • User-Centered Design: Prioritize user needs and comfort in all design activities, ensuring that lighting solutions enhance the overall user experience without compromising safety or functionality.

 

Qualifications and skills required for the role:

  • Bachelor's degree in Lighting Design, Industrial Design, Interaction Design, or a related field. A Master's degree or specialized training in lighting design is a plus.
  • Lighting Design Expertise: Solid foundation in the principles of lighting design, including knowledge of light sources, optics, colour theory, and the emotional impact of lighting.
  • Technical Proficiency: Familiarity with lighting simulation software and tools for design and analysis. Skills in CAD software for creating design visualizations are highly beneficial.
  • Creative Problem Solving: Ability to think creatively and outside the box to solve complex design challenges with innovative lighting solutions.
  • Prototyping Skills: Hands-on experience in prototyping and testing designs, capable of iterating
based on feedback and technical requirements.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across disciplines and effectively articulate design concepts and decisions.
  • Industry Experience: Prior experience in the mobility industry is optional. We value diverse perspectives and encourage professionals with expertise in lighting design across any sector to apply.

Strong drive, communicative with good presentation skills, independent and confident as well as a good team player. Creative and innovative but structured, methodical, and analytical with good planning skills. Flexible and able to work under constrained time schedules and frequently revised circumstances.

 

Other:

  • The assignment will take place in our studio in Gothenburg
  • Travel to China may be needed (approx. 1-2 trips per year).
  • Everyone in our team has a high level of responsibility and mandate and is expected to be able to work autonomously.
