SENIOR AUTOMOTIVE INTERIOR DESIGNER

MISSION:

SUMMARY:                                    
This will be for Interior Design, and will be located in Southern California.  Start date – asap, Length of contract – 6 mo. (to start).  7-15 years of Automotive Interior Design experience requested
Primary function is the design development of future interior designs by collaborating with all functions of the design process to create the required deliverables

MAJOR DUTIES:                            
Responsible for the two-dimensional representation and development of future automotive interior designs for our automotive client.                                        
Create meaningful new and unique concepts of complete automotive interiors in sketches, digital sketches, visual 3D models, renderings, and other media to illustrate both individual and department’s design proposals. Present ideas as a story teller.
Create stunning interior views with accurate materials and detail using Photoshop rendering skills.
Use design thinking and deep-thinking skills to find new solutions and opportunities.
Research and benchmark to create a customer focused solution. 
Create clean 3D models based on engineering package. Proficient in Polygon tools like SUB-D or Blender and have the basic Alias Nurbs knowledge for creating curves and surfaces for Class A phase feedback.
Collaborate with the digital and clay modeling departments in the interpretation of a complete interior design into three-dimensional form while incorporating required engineering parameters of the project.               
Understand engineering feedback and great ability to provide alternative technical solutions.
Negotiate with Engineering and Design Leadership to create production feasible proposals.         
Responsible for organizing presentations and capable of communicating design proposals visually and verbally.   
Able to teach, motivate and inspire others.

Work hard and play hard, extremely organized, hands-on.
Stay abreast of American and international automobile design, current and future technology and domestic and international regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:                              
Excellent manual drawing ability, exceptional creativity, generation of new, unique and usable design ideas which reflect the brands  
Successful demonstration of collaborative teamwork and project management skills 
Advanced level of Photoshop, Illustrator, Alias, Sub D, Blender, Key Shot, Microsoft Office
Visualization, VRed, VR Tools, movie making skills are a plus  
Advanced understanding of UX/GUI/HMI is a major plus
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Transportation Design
Seven years of experience in an automotive design studio   
Strong automotive portfolio with a variety of themes and many successful projects

Salary Range: $120,000-$160,000 yearly (dependent upon skill level and experience)
