Experienced Automotive Interior Production Designer Location: Germany, Rhein-Main area Employment Type: Full-time, onsite, limited contract, Oct 2026 to Feb 2027 with option of extension Experience Level: Senior / Experienced About the Role We are looking for an Experienced Automotive Interior Production Designer to join our automotive design and development team and work at our client´s location. In this role, you will bridge the gap between creative design and production feasibility, transforming interior design concepts into production-ready solutions for future vehicle programs. Working closely with design, engineering, CMF, digital modeling, and manufacturing teams, you will ensure that interior components meet aesthetic, functional, ergonomic, quality, and manufacturing requirements while preserving the original design intent. Key Responsibilities
Develop production-feasible automotive interior designs from concept through serial production.
Create and refine Class A design proposals in collaboration with interior designers and engineering teams.
Support the development of instrument panels, center consoles, door trims, seating components, overhead systems, and other interior elements.
Collaborate with engineering, ergonomics, HMI, UX, lighting, and manufacturing teams to ensure design feasibility.
Produce detailed design documentation, specifications, and production release materials.
Participate in design reviews, package studies, and engineering integration workshops.
Evaluate design proposals for manufacturability, cost, quality, and regulatory compliance.
Manage design changes and ensure alignment throughout the development process.
Support prototype builds, validation phases, and launch activities.
Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, materials, and customer expectations within automotive interiors.
Required Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, Automotive Design, Product Design, Engineering Design, or a related field.
Minimum 5 years of experience in automotive interior production design, automotive product development, or transportation design.
Proven experience supporting vehicle programs from concept development through production release.
Strong understanding of automotive interior systems, components, and manufacturing processes.
Proficiency in industry-standard design and visualization tools such as:
Alias
ICEM Surf
CATIA
Autodesk VRED
Blender or similar 3D visualization tools
Experience working with Class A surfaces and production constraints.
Strong knowledge of materials, finishes, and manufacturing methods used in automotive interiors.
Ability to interpret engineering data, package requirements, and technical specifications.
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple vehicle programs simultaneously.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with premium or luxury automotive brands.
Knowledge of CMF (Color, Material & Finish) development.
Understanding of sustainable materials and circular design principles.
Experience working within global automotive development environments.
Familiarity with digital prototyping, VR reviews, and UX-focused interior development.
Knowledge of automotive safety, ergonomic, and regulatory requirements.
