Automotive Junior Interior Component Designer

Location: Gothenburg, Sweden
Contract Position

Our client is seeking a talented and passionate Junior Interior Component Designer to join their Interior Design team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the design and development of high-quality interior components that help define the next generation automotive user experience.

The successful candidate will be responsible for creating tactile, visually refined, and production-feasible interior components that contribute to a cohesive and emotionally engaging cabin environment.

Working at the intersection of design, engineering, and user experience, you will translate design intent into detailed, production-ready solutions, ensuring every component reflects progressive, human-centric design principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop high-quality automotive interior components from concept to production.
  • Translate creative design intent into detailed, manufacturable solutions.
  • Collaborate closely with design, engineering, UX, and manufacturing teams.
  • Create compelling sketches, visualisations, and presentations to communicate design ideas.
  • Support the development of innovative interior experiences through thoughtful component design.
  • Ensure designs meet ergonomic, aesthetic, functional, and manufacturing requirements.
  • Contribute to the selection and application of materials, finishes, and technologies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Transportation Design, Industrial Design, or a related discipline.
  • Experience or demonstrated ability to deliver production-ready component designs.
  • Strong sketching, rendering, and visual communication skills.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design tools such as Alias, Blender, Photoshop, and VRED.
  • Understanding of ergonomics, materials, manufacturing processes, and automotive design principles.
  • Ability to balance aesthetics, functionality, quality, and production feasibility.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively within cross-functional teams.

Technical Requirements

  • CAD experience, ideally with CATIA.
  • Experience with Teamcenter Automotive would be advantageous.
  • Experience with both solid and surface modelling is beneficial.

Additional Information

Travel Requirements

  • Occasional international travel may be required, approximately twice per year.
