Automotive Senior Exterior Designer

Are you a highly creative and experienced Senior Exterior Designer with a passion for shaping the future of automotive design? We are seeking a talented designer to join a leading automotive design team, contributing to the development of innovative exterior concepts for future vehicle programmes.

The Role

As a Senior Exterior Designer, you will be responsible for creating and delivering complete exterior design proposals from concept through to development. Working within a fast-paced, international environment, you will transform design briefs into compelling and technically feasible design solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and deliver complete exterior design proposals in line with project briefs.
• Develop innovative and detailed design solutions that meet complex technical and engineering requirements.
• Produce initial CAD models and digital visualisations to communicate design intent.
• Prepare high-quality presentation material for management and design reviews.
• Participate actively in internal and cross-functional design reviews.
• Collaborate with and guide digital modelling and clay modelling teams throughout the design process.
• Contribute to the development of future mobility and vehicle design strategies.

Required Qualifications & Experience

• University Degree in Transportation Design or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in automotive exterior design, preferably with a major OEM.
• Proven experience developing production-feasible exterior design proposals.
• Experience working with Chinese OEMs and the Chinese automotive market.
• Excellent spoken and written English.

Technical Skills

Experience with the automotive 3D design process and software such as:

• VRED
• Blender
• Adobe Photoshop
• Other equivalent visualisation and image processing tools

Knowledge of:

• CATIA (Surface and/or Solid modelling experience beneficial)
• Team Center Automotive (Author and/or Viewer experience advantageous)

Travel Requirements

✈️ This role includes occasional international travel, with visits to China expected once or twice per year.
