Technicon Design is hiring a Prototype Product Coordinator to work with a dynamic team in Costa Mesa, CA.

As a Prototyping Product Coordinator, you will organize and manage the physical prototyping process for new products—from an early design concept through prototype builds and evaluation.

The role will reside between industrial design, engineering, prototype shops, suppliers, and project management.

Responsibilities:

• Coordinate prototype builds — 3D prints, CNC parts, soft tooling, model-shop builds, appearance models, functional prototypes, etc.
• Manage schedules — making sure parts, materials, vendors, and shop capacity are lined up for build dates.
• Work with designers and engineers to understand what needs to be built and resolve issues before fabrication.
• Source prototype components and coordinate outside vendors.
• Track parts and assemblies — drawings, CAD files, revisions, quantities, materials, and delivery status.
• Manage prototype budgets and purchase orders.
• Coordinate build events and make sure the right people and parts are available.
• Document results and track changes between prototype iterations.
• Sometimes inspect or physically assemble prototypes themselves.
