Technicon Design Sweden is seeking an experienced Senior Automotive Electrical Harness Design Engineer to join our client's Research & Development organization in Stockholm. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of next-generation vehicle platforms and transport solutions, working at the forefront of electrical installation and harness routing engineering.

As part of the Electrical Installation Team, you will be responsible for the design, development, and release of cable harness routing solutions that meet demanding requirements for functionality, quality, manufacturability, serviceability, and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop vehicle cable harness routing solutions using CAD tools in accordance with engineering standards and technical requirements.
  • Create, maintain, and release 3D harness routing models and supporting design documentation.
  • Optimize harness installations to achieve robust packaging, ease of assembly, serviceability, quality, and cost targets.
  • Collaborate closely with electrical architects, mechanical designers, manufacturing engineers, purchasing teams, and suppliers.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide technical expertise throughout concept and detailed design phases.
  • Perform installation feasibility studies and tolerance analyses.
  • Support prototype builds, verification testing, troubleshooting, and issue resolution.
  • Manage engineering changes and maintain accurate product documentation within PLM systems.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to electrical installation design methods, standards, and best practices.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
  • Equivalent industry experience will also be considered.

Essential Experience

  • Proven experience in cable harness routing and/or mechanical installation design.
  • Strong proficiency in 3D CAD systems, ideally CATIA V5 or CATIA 3DEXPERIENCE.
  • Experience working within cross-functional product development environments.
  • Good understanding of Design for Manufacturing (DfM) and Design for Assembly (DfA) principles.

Desirable Experience

  • Automotive or commercial vehicle industry experience.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and cable harness architecture.
  • Experience with PLM systems such as ENOVIA.
  • Involvement in prototype builds, verification activities, and production support.
