Overview
  • Technicon Design Sweden has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Automotive Studio Engineer to join our client's team in Gothenburg, Sweden. This is a senior expert-level position supporting the Product Design organisation throughout all phases of the product development process, from Advanced Design through to Advanced Engineering.
  • The successful candidate will act as the key link between Design and Engineering, ensuring technical feasibility while preserving design intent and delivering high-quality studio engineering solutions.

    Key Responsibilities
  •  
  • Provide overall engineering support to the Product Design team throughout all phases of vehicle development.
  • Support Advanced Design and Advanced Engineering activities.
  • Ensure engineering and design requirements are cearly understood, challenged where necessary, and effectively communicated between Product Design and Engineering teams.
  • Support studio development work and maintain correct technical and geometric status for:
  • Physical models
  • Design mock-ups
  • Ergonomic bucks
  • Balance engineering requirements with design objectives using a holistic systems perspective.
  • Stay at the forefront of engineering trends, development processes, tooling methods, and system tools.
  • Ensure all Product Design deliverables meet required technical quality standards.
  • Contribute to project roadmaps and strategic planning in alignment with industry developments and business objectives.
  • Provide technical leadership and expert guidance for complex design studio engineering challenges.


Expert-Level Expectations
  • The successful candidate will be recognised as a subject matter expert in Design Studio Engineering, typically gained through advanced education and 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • You will be expected to:

  • Serve as the go-to expert for complex discipline-related issues.
  • Demonstrate a strong T-shaped profile, combining deep specialist expertise with broad cross-functional knowledge.

  • Clearly articulate how engineering decisions contribute to wider Technical Development and Business Area objectives.
  • Drive continuous improvement within studio engineering processes and methodologies.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Product Development, Design Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years' experience within automotive studio engineering, design engineering, or vehicle development.
  • Extensive experience supporting automotive design studios and physical model development.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle packaging, geometry, feasibility, and manufacturing considerations.
  • Proven experience collaborating with both Design and Engineering functions.
  • Experience leading projects and influencing technical decisions at a senior level.
