3D Print Technician

Summary: As a 3D Print Technician, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining 3D print machines and 3D scanning equipment. You will interpret engineering designs, provide feedback on manufacturability, and solve 3D printing challenges. Your expertise in the 3D print process, CAD software, and attention to detail will be essential to creating high-quality prototypes.

What you'll be able to do:
  • Read, interpret, and build to blueprints, 3D CAD models, and engineering drawings.
  • Operate and maintain a variety of 3D printers, including FDM, MJF, and Polyjet.
  • Perform routine maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of 3D printers to ensure optimal performance.
  • Prepare 3D models for printing, including slicing, orientation, and support generation, and select appropriate printing parameters such as layer height, infill density, and print speed.
  • Monitor print progress and make adjustments as needed to ensure successful completion.
  • Remove printed parts from the build platform and perform post-processing, such as support removal, sanding, and painting.
  • Manage inventory of 3D printing materials, including filaments, resins, and powders, and properly store and handle materials to maintain quality and prevent contamination.
  • Inspect printed parts for defects, using measuring tools and techniques to verify dimensional accuracy and ensure quality standards are met.
  • Work closely with engineers, designers, and other team members to understand project requirements, and provide technical support and training to other users of the 3D printing lab.
  • Contribute to the development of new 3D printing applications and processes, staying up-to-date on the latest advancements in 3D printing technology.
  • Proactively track, document, and provide clear feedback and communication to management and engineers on project status and outcomes.
  • Maintain a clean and productive workplace, adhering to all safety procedures and guidelines when operating 3D printing equipment.
The minimum requirements we seek:
  • 3+ years of 3D printing experience.
  • Experience with a variety of 3D printing technologies (e.g., FDM, MJF, PolyJet).
  • Experience with 3D modeling software and slicing software.
  • High attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment as well as individually.
  • Physical job requirements:
    • Ability to lift 50-70lbs.
    • Stand for long periods of time, bend or twist body, kneel, stoop, or crouch.
Our preferred requirements:
  • Experience operating 3D scanning equipment.
  • Experience with Stratasys and HP equipment.
  • Experience with post-processing techniques, such as sanding, painting, and coating.
