Job Summary
Technicon Design Sweden is seeking a highly creative and experienced CMF Senior Designer to join our team working on our clients vehicle programs. In this role, you will lead the development of Color, Material, and Finish (CMF) strategies from concept through to production, transforming visionary ideas into feasible, production-ready solutions.
You will play a key role in driving innovation, mentoring junior designers, and collaborating across global, cross-functional teams while ensuring design excellence and brand alignment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead CMF development across full vehicle programs (DSM0 to J1 launch)
- Create comprehensive CMF proposals including:
- Color palettes
- Materials and finishes
- Technical drawings (e.g. quilting and perforation patterns)
- Translate CMF strategy into production-ready design solutions
- Collaborate with designers, engineers, modelers, visualization teams, trimmers, and painters
- Coordinate with suppliers across:
- Exterior paints
- Soft trims
- Decorative materials
- Develop both macro CMF themes and detailed design elements (textures, meshes, quilting)
- Deliver high-quality presentations, renders, and storytelling materials
- Support sustainability initiatives and innovation in material development
- Mentor junior CMF designers and promote knowledge sharing within the team
- Present design proposals confidently to internal stakeholders and leadership
Experience & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial Design, Transportation Design, or related field
- 6–10 years of CMF design experience, ideally within the automotive industry
- Proven experience delivering production-ready CMF programs
- Experience working within cross-functional and global teams
- Strong presentation skills with experience engaging senior stakeholders
Core Competencies

- Ability to independently lead CMF programs
- Deep understanding of materials, finishes, and manufacturing feasibility
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills
- Proficiency in:
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Illustrator
- Ability to produce high-quality renders (VRED or Blender)
- Familiarity with Rhino or Blender is advantageous
- Knowledge of generative AI tools is a plus
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills in fast-paced environments
