About the Role
Technicon Design is seeking a highly skilled Senior Light Designer to shape the future of automotive lighting. In this role, you will define advanced lighting solutions for both interior and exterior vehicle systems—merging brand identity, safety, and emotional impact. You’ll work within our Technology & Innovation department, collaborating closely with Exterior/Interior Design, CMF, UX, and Engineering teams to deliver lighting concepts that meet regulatory and performance standards.

What You’ll Do

  • Create and deliver innovative lighting concepts for interior and exterior systems (ambient, functional, and communication lighting).
  • Develop solutions that integrate seamlessly with vehicle design and technical constraints.
  • Translate brand DNA into iconic lighting signatures and dynamic behaviors (e.g., welcome/farewell sequences, charging indicators, ADAS-linked signals).
  • Validate concepts using visualization, simulation, and VR tools.
  • Present and prototype lighting ideas to stakeholders and suppliers.

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial/Product/Transportation Design, Interaction/Lighting Design, or similar.
  • 5+ years of experience in automotive lighting design or related fields, with a strong portfolio.
  • Proficiency in Blender and Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Experience translating concepts into manufacturable solutions with suppliers and engineering teams.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, with strong storytelling and presentation abilities.
  • Hands-on prototyping mindset; knowledge of electronics and rapid prototyping is a plus.
  • Familiarity with automotive lighting regulations is an advantage.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with advanced interactive lighting technologies (OLED, AR overlays, projection/DLP).
  • Understanding of optics, light guides, materials, and human factors in vehicle interiors.
  • Background in automotive design studios or Tier-1 suppliers.

Personal Attributes

  • Technically rigorous with a refined aesthetic sense.
  • Structured, methodical, and proactive under time constraints.
  • Collaborative communicator and confident in leading technical reviews.

Other Details

  • Office-first environment in Gothenburg with some flexibility for remote work.
  • Occasional travel to China (1–2 trips per year).
  • Fluent English required; valid driver’s license preferred.
