Junior Mechanical Test Engineer

Technicon Design US is seeking an experience and talented automotive Junior Mechanical Test Engineer with a strong desire to work in a collaborative lab shaping the vehicles of tomorrow.

This position is located in the southern Los Angeles area. It is a contract opportunity (6 months to start).

Job Functions:
  • Set up and execute mechanical and environmental tests on electric vehicle components and subsystems.
  • Perform analytical testing, acquire data, and conduct thorough analysis to evaluate the performance, durability, and electrical components.
  • Document detailed test plans, procedures, and results, generating comprehensive test reports and presentations for engineering review.
  • Collaborate closely with design and test engineering teams to define test requirements, interpret data, and provide actionable technical feedback.
  • Assist in the assembly, modification, and maintenance of mechanical test fixtures, equipment, and prototypes.
  • Contribute to the root cause analysis of mechanical and hardware failures observed during testing and support the development of corrective actions.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
  • 0 – 2 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering or test engineering.
  • Familiarity with test equipment and hands tools such as thermal chambers, vibration systems, wire crimpers, and soldering irons.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, Excel) is highly desirable.
  • Experience with electric vehicle (EV) mechanical systems or components is preferred.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and basic machining/fabrication skills is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for collaborating with cross-functional teams and presenting technical information.
