Junior Mechanical Test Engineer
Technicon Design US is seeking an experience and talented automotive Junior Mechanical Test Engineer with a strong desire to work in a collaborative lab shaping the vehicles of tomorrow.
This position is located in the southern Los Angeles area. It is a contract opportunity (6 months to start).
Job Functions:
- Set up and execute mechanical and environmental tests on electric vehicle components and subsystems.
- Perform analytical testing, acquire data, and conduct thorough analysis to evaluate the performance, durability, and electrical components.
- Document detailed test plans, procedures, and results, generating comprehensive test reports and presentations for engineering review.
- Collaborate closely with design and test engineering teams to define test requirements, interpret data, and provide actionable technical feedback.
- Assist in the assembly, modification, and maintenance of mechanical test fixtures, equipment, and prototypes.
- Contribute to the root cause analysis of mechanical and hardware failures observed during testing and support the development of corrective actions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related engineering field.
- 0 – 2 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering or test engineering.
- Familiarity with test equipment and hands tools such as thermal chambers, vibration systems, wire crimpers, and soldering irons.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, Excel) is highly desirable.
- Experience with electric vehicle (EV) mechanical systems or components is preferred.
- Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and basic machining/fabrication skills is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for collaborating with cross-functional teams and presenting technical information.
